3/8" tempered glass is the standard for most frameless shower doors — appropriate for openings up to about 36 inches wide and standard hinge or pivot configurations. 1/2" glass is heavier and more rigid, giving a more substantial premium feel when opening and closing the door. It's the right choice for larger openings, walk-in showers with wide panels, and high-end remodels where the quality of the experience matters. Yes. Florida Building Code requires tempered safety glass (or approved safety glazing) for all shower and tub enclosures. Tempered glass is manufactured with a heat treatment process that makes it approximately four times stronger than standard glass. When it does break, it shatters into small rounded pieces rather than sharp shards. We use tempered glass on 100% of our shower enclosure installations.

We install hardware in all standard finishes: matte black, brushed nickel, polished chrome, brushed gold/champagne bronze, and oil-rubbed bronze. For coastal Florida installations, we recommend matte black or brushed nickel — these hold up better in humid, salt-air environments than polished chrome. For exterior applications, we specify marine-grade stainless hardware.

Yes. We offer clear, frosted (acid-etched or sandblasted), and tinted glass for shower enclosures. Frosted glass provides privacy while still allowing light to pass through — popular for shared bathrooms or for a more spa-like aesthetic. Clear glass is the most common and shows off tile work well.
