Wine Cellar Glass Enclosures in Sarasota & Southwest Florida

Custom glass wine rooms, display enclosures, and cellar doors for residential homeowners and restaurant operators. Wine cellar glass is one of Lira's signature specialties — we've built showpiece wine rooms that become the focal point of the space.

Residential Wine Rooms & Display Cellars

A glass-enclosed wine cellar is one of the most striking interior design elements you can add to a luxury home. Whether it's a full walk-in cellar with climate control and glass walls, a dining room display built into a wall cavity, or a freestanding glass enclosure in an open-plan living space — the glass work is what makes it a showpiece.

We work directly with homeowners, interior designers, and contractors on residential wine cellar projects. Our role is the glass: the enclosure walls, the door, and any glass display shelving or features. We coordinate with your refrigeration and climate control contractors to ensure the glass enclosure is properly sealed to maintain temperature and humidity.

What We Install

  • Full glass enclosure walls — Floor-to-ceiling frameless glass panels creating the walls of a walk-in wine room.
  • Glass wine cellar doors — Custom-sized frameless or semi-frameless hinged doors, often with a channel seal for temperature retention.
  • Wall display niches — Built-in glass enclosures within a wall cavity — visible from the dining or living room, with integrated lighting.
  • Glass shelving — Tempered glass shelves and display features within the cellar.

Restaurant Wine Displays & Commercial Wine Rooms

A restaurant wine display is both a functional storage solution and a marketing asset. When a guest walks in and sees a floor-to-ceiling glass wine room, it sets the tone for the entire dining experience. Lira Shower Doors has built custom glass wine displays for restaurant clients in Tampa and the Sarasota area.

Restaurant applications are different from residential wine rooms in a few key ways:

  • Scale — Restaurant displays are often larger, sometimes occupying an entire wall or a freestanding position visible from multiple dining areas.
  • Access — Staff need to access the wine frequently. Door configuration and hardware need to handle daily professional use, not just occasional residential access.
  • Aesthetics — Restaurant wine displays need to photograph well, look impeccable under lighting conditions, and age well with minimal visible wear.
  • Permitting — Commercial installations often require permits. We coordinate with your contractor and GC on permitting requirements specific to your municipality.

Glass Types for Wine Cellar Applications

The glass used in a wine cellar enclosure has specific considerations that don't apply to shower doors or office glass:

  • Clear tempered glass — Standard for wine display enclosures. Provides full visibility of the wine collection while protecting from ambient temperature fluctuations. Tempered glass is required for safety in any enclosure people enter.
  • Low-E glass — Reduces ultraviolet and infrared light transmission, which can degrade wine quality over time. For serious wine collections, low-E glass is worth specifying.
  • Insulated glass units (IGU) — Double-pane insulated glass provides better thermal separation and dramatically improves the energy efficiency of the climate control system. For any walk-in cellar where temperature maintenance is a real concern, IGU is the correct specification.

We'll discuss glass specifications with you during the project consultation based on how the cellar is being used, what climate control system you're installing, and what your budget allows.

Wine Cellar Glass FAQ

How much does a glass wine cellar enclosure cost?
Wine cellar glass enclosures vary widely in cost — a small residential display niche might start at $2,000–$4,000 for the glass work. A full walk-in cellar with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and a custom door could run $8,000–$20,000+ for the glass portion alone, depending on size and glass specification. Restaurant displays at scale are priced by project. We provide a detailed quote after understanding your project requirements.
What kind of glass is used for wine cellar doors?
Wine cellar doors typically use either clear tempered glass or insulated glass units (IGU/double-pane) depending on the temperature differential between the cellar and the surrounding space. For climate-controlled cellars where maintaining 55°F is important, an insulated glass door is the correct specification — it prevents condensation and dramatically reduces the load on the cooling system. We can spec either option based on your cellar design.
Do you build wine cellar enclosures for restaurants in the Sarasota and Tampa area?
Yes. We've built glass wine displays for restaurant clients in Tampa and Sarasota. Restaurant wine room projects are quote-based and typically involve working with your contractor or interior designer. Contact us with your space dimensions and project timeline to discuss.
Do I need a permit to install a glass wine cellar enclosure?
Permitting requirements depend on your municipality, the scope of the project, and whether structural work is involved. Residential display niches built into an existing wall cavity may not require a permit. Walk-in wine rooms with climate control systems typically do. We advise on permitting requirements as part of the project planning process and can coordinate with your GC on commercial projects.
